ELOISE PENNYCOTT

Ambassador

Eloise Pennycott is an actor, writer, fight director, and activist. Her debut play Barrier(s) was staged with the National Theatre. Fight direction credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Chess for the National Youth Musical Theatre. Losing my hearing at age 11 was the best thing ever to happen to me, giving me insight into a new culture – I love my Deafness, and I’m really keen to champion it within my work as a creative asset and to help others to do so.

NICKY WEIR

NICKY WEIR

Ambassador

Nicky was born profoundly deaf and began her career as a make-up artist (MUA) for over 20 years. While Nicky trained as an MUA she would do many test shoots for the experience and was the first ever Deaf MUA to have worked at MAC. From there Nicky would join London Fashion Week Shows assisting amazing MUA such as Val Garland, Miranda Joyce, Lucia Pieroni, and many more. Eventually, she ventured out into the freelancing world and started working for editorials such as Vogue, GQ, Harpers Bazaar, Sunday Times, I.D., and many more.

Over the years Nicky has noticed there is a huge great lack of Deaf creative talents around especially in doing what she does which propelled her to start thinking about bringing more Deaf awareness into the creative hearing world such as fashion, beauty, and films.
