In August 2023, Hear Art hosted interactive storytelling sessions across Merton Libraries in partnership with the Art Council, bringing deaf and hearing children together to learn basic British Sign Language. The main focus was on nurturing acceptance and awareness through stories that demonstrated how much richer our community landscape becomes when we are fully committed to inclusivity and accessibility. The stories, tailored for ages 5-7 years, were told in British Sign Language by deaf and hearing artists (with interpreters) including Trudie Goodwin, Rachel Shenton, Coco Briden, and Fifi Garfield.
